Here’s a photo of a female Okapi taken at the Bronx Zoo on November 26, 2006.
Even though I’ve been to the zoo a few times since the visit I got this photo, the Okapis have been indoors due to the colder weather, and I hope things warm up soon so I can see them again. They are among my favorite animals, and it’s always a treat to see them on a calm, quiet day (i.e. no 4th grade classes raising hell). In fact, this was the first time I had even seen what a female Okapi looked like; previously I had only seen males on exhibit at zoos.
