About “Laelaps”

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I am currently an undergraduate student at Cook College (NOT the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, as some would have you believe) at Rutgers University, and will presumably graduate within the next year with a bachelor’s degree in Ecology & Evolution and a minor in Geology. I received an associates degree in grade 4-12 education about two years ago, but I don’t really think that counts for very much. In any case, when I’m not at work or doodling in my notebooks margins in class, I can be usually be found at home with my wife and two cats, devouring some new book that has just arrived in the mail. This blog will go through phases, just as my interests do, but it will generally cover topics involving ecology, evolution, paleontology, culture (when culture intersects with dinosaurs, at least), and whatever else might be of interest to me on any given day. I’m in the process of writing a popular book on evolution (although such a categorization seems a bit presumptuous), although I’m not entirely sure when it will be completed as it continues to grow into a monster that demands my time and thought more and more.

If you’re interested in my early blogging days, you can see some of my posts via ProgressiveU, or you could add me as a friend on Facebook if you are so inclined. All questions, problems, or trauma can be addressed to evogeek AT gmail DOT com or otherwise expressed in the comments.

I have a blog, too. It’s mostly about matters related to writing my Great Science Fiction Masterpiece With Neandertals, but it also links to various other blogs relating evolution(especially human). Yours looks great, and I hope you don’t mind if I link to it. My blog, if you’re interested in taking a look, is at:

I love your comments about human evolution,

Hi! I saw your blog and thought it was great! I stumbled upon it when looking for reviews of Behe’s “Edge of Evolution”. Anyway, you should check out my blog, I am exposing creationist deceptions, hoaxes, and False Claims. A review of Behe’s book will be up within the next couple of weeks. Until then, check out my latest essay on Noah’s Flood:

Hello.

I’m writing to you on behalf of an arts festival in Melbourne, Australia, called Next Wave, and we need your help.

For our festival this year we’re using Google.com to find images from around the world as part of the promotion of the festival. The theme for the festival is ‘Closer Together’ and is partly about connecting with people from around the world through the internet.

We found an image on your website through Google and would like to use it for the purpose of promoting the Festival, so we’re writing to ask your permission. The image’s names is attached to this email (colbertevo.jpg, hippobig.png). If you are happy for us to use the image, you don’t have to do anything else, we already have the image from your website, just read the information below, fill in your name and the date, and reply to the email.

Also, yours won’t be the only image. On each poster or program there will be between five and ten images with it (as a kind of image sentence). The poster and the program will also incorporate the names and trade marks of sponsors of Next Wave and the 2008 Next Wave festival. The image would be used on around 2,000 copies of a poster or around 30,000 copies of the program, and on the website and possibly in other advertising and promotional materials and Next Wave archive materials.

The poster will be displayed and the program will be distributed in various public places around Melbourne and elsewhere in Australia. The website will of course be accessible anywhere in the world.
We’d be happy to post you a copy of the final poster or program if you’d like to see it.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

I apologise, but, in my opinion, you aren’t right. I am assured. I can defend the position. Email me in PM, we will talk. Thanks so much with this information I’m already doing a bit of of these suggestions but there are lots of others that are a new comer to me.
